What an affiliate link is

Some outbound links on this site and in our guides are affiliate links. If you follow one and go on to buy something or sign up for a service, we may receive a commission from the seller. The price you pay is the same either way.

Where they appear

Affiliate links may appear next to pet food and supplies, insurance and quote-comparison services, veterinary telehealth, and similar products. Every page that has them says so at the top. Our buying lists link to Amazon search results so that you see current options and prices on Amazon itself; we do not copy Amazon prices, ratings or images onto our pages.

What it does not change

We say what the research supports, including recommending against a product, leaving a partner out, or saying that a free step does the job. There is no sponsored placement on this site, and no partner has editorial input. When a cited source is funded by a manufacturer, we say so.
