About Senior Pet Verdict
An independent publication that answers one practical question at a time for owners of older dogs and cats: is it worth the money, what does the evidence say, and what should I buy.
What we are, and are not
We are not veterinarians, and nothing here is veterinary advice. We read what veterinary organizations, university veterinary hospitals, peer-reviewed studies, insurers and manufacturers publish, and we report what those sources say. Your own vet knows your animal; every page tells you what to ask them.
How a page is made
- Sources are named in the text and linked, with the date they were published or updated where we found one.
- Every page shows when it was last researched. Prices and policy terms change; where we quote a price, it carries the date we saw it.
- Our own opinions and arithmetic are labeled. When a figure is our own calculation, or a suggestion has no source behind it, the page says so.
- Disagreement is shown, not smoothed over. Where experts or studies conflict, we give both sides, and we flag sponsored or manufacturer-funded material when we cite it.
- Illustrative scenarios are marked. The short "picture two owners" examples are invented to explain a number and are labeled as such.
What we do not do
- We do not test products, and a link is not an endorsement. Where a product appears, it is usually a price or a listing we looked at, and the page says why.
- We do not accept sponsored placement. No partner has editorial input.
- We do not diagnose, and we do not suggest treatments.
How the site earns money
Some links are affiliate links, and we may be paid if you buy or sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. The affiliate disclosure explains this. We also plan paid guides that collect the research in one place.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong or has moved, tell us at hello@seniorpetverdict.com and send the source if you can. We correct the text and update the research date instead of editing quietly.
